Major fundraisers that support our chapter programs and scholarships include the Tiny Tots Cotillion, and The Crimson & Gold Gala. To date, the chapter has awarded over $200,000 in scholarships to college-bound area youth to help them pursue their goals of continuing their education. Some of our health initiatives are implemented through partnerships with local health agencies. Partnerships have produced town hall meetings on trending health issues, health fairs and screenings and we have collaborated with the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. We host an annual Memorial Breakfast to benefit breast cancer causes. The proceeds support agencies and organizations that provide testing, access to mammograms and other breast cancer related services. Chapter members also participate in an annual competitive Two-Week Health Challenge.

Services that impact women and children include the Supper with Santa Christmas Party, Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy and Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS mentoring programs. In addition, the chapter has

sponsored the following: Mother Hale Project, Youth conference for residents at the Atlantic County Juvenile Detention Center (Harborfields) and we continue to support Avanzar (formerly known as the Atlantic County Women’s Center).

We are honored that some of our chapter programs have been recognized by our national office and by a former New Jersey Governor. Grand Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. recognized the chapter for the work we do under the sorority’s Physical and Mental Health Thrust and Governor Jon Corzine acknowledged our community service work with the Winona L. Lipman award. The chapter was also recognized by the men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. for our work on social justice.  Atlantic City Alumnae Chapter continues to honor the ideals of our beloved Founders by remembering, “Membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is a lifetime commitment.”
